3 Christmas Presents for Under $25 for Babies

  • Posted on December 27, 2009 at 11:59 am

Are you shopping for a baby this Christmas and unsure of what to buy for them? Knowing that they will grow out of it quickly, it can be hard to spend a lot of money and yet it seems that anything baby related costs an arm and a leg. Here are 3 Christmas presents for under $25 for babies that are fun, educational, and most importantly, affordable!

Gift Idea #1 – Baby Rattles

Baby rattles are so much more complex than they used to be back in the day. I personally am still quite young, but I don’t remember rattles being as fun as the ones they have these days. Baby development research has really inspired toymakers to come up with some fun and developmentally stimulating toys, and the rattles certainly did not get left out of the overhaul. Many rattles today incorporate little elements that stimulate all of baby’s senses. From textured fabrics, to jingly noises, and colored patterns, these rattles really do a good job of entertaining baby while gently stimulating the mind. The best part is you don’t have to spend a lot to get a lot!

Gift Idea #2 – Plush Toys

Soft, snuggly plush toys make great Christmas presents for babies.  These gifts provide hours of entertainment for baby, especially if an adult or older child is behind the scenes making the stuffed animal sing, talk or dance. As baby gets older these beloved toys often turn into security items and imaginary playmates. And when they have outgrown it completely, they become special keepsakes from childhood. Keeping with the developmental theme, many plush toys have visually stimulating patterns and designs, as well as gentle noises for the auditory senses. Double check to make sure the toy is age appropriate and does not have elements that would present a choking hazard.

Gift Idea #3 – Balls

Do you remember from your own childhood how much fun you could have with a simple ball? I watch my daughter who is still an infant spend long periods of time playing with her older brother’s soft football. Babies love to roll balls back and forth, and for older babies nothing delights them more than for mom or dad to get in on the action too. They also make great learning aids for babies that are starting to crawl. Again, be sure the ball you purchase is age appropriate and is something you don’t mind them chewing on, because we all know where baby toys end up half of the time…their mouths! Finding a ball that has bright colors or makes some sort of noise is best.
