okay, so for him I am shelling out $80 for a volcom jacket he’s been eyeing
But I also want to get something for his mom
and his sister, who’s a senior in high school
His mom is a widow, and has a really stressful job, but she always makes time for my bf and his sis, and she loves to shop.
So, i was thinking of giving her $45 to the mall, and maybe putting together a “pamper me” basket, with godiva chocolates and a candle and slippers and smelly stuff.
she made me an amazing blanket for my birthday
and i totally wasn’t expecting her to get me anything
So I want to show her how important she and her family are to me
I was thinking of getting a $45 gift card for his sis too, since she adores shopping as well. But I want to get her something to go with it, just something little. Shes not really into designer brands, and she dislikes girl people. I’m kinda stuck and I don’t know if these ideas are good ones and i dont want to ask my bf, bc i want him to be surprised by it. Ideas for my boyfriend’s family for Christmas?

We’ve been dating a year now and i’m spending Christmas with his family. I’ve only met them once before, we spent a week camping and we all get along great! I’m in graduate school and on a pretty tight budget so I can’t buy them all indivdiual gifts. I’m having a hard time coming up with a good family gift for them all. Initially I thought about making some goodies and taking that but then I talked to my boyfriend’s mom and she casually remarked how her and his younger sister spent the whole weekend baking. Now I have no idea. I also have to be able to put it in my luggage since we’ll be flying. I was thinking that some sort of camping gift would be cool since they all would get to enjoy it and it would be a gift from something i’ve done with them. But I really have no idea what that would be. They’ve really got it all together when camping but i’m hoping there might be that one little thing that makes it more enjoyable. Any ideas???? Thanks!

Christmas gift for boyfriend’s parents?

Okay, so I’ve been dating my boyfriend for 9 months and I’ve gotten to know his family very well. I want to get everyone in his family a nice gift for Christmas and I already know what to get his sisters and brother but I want another opinion for his parents gift.
I had a few ideas for his mom. She isn’t hard to buy for but I wasn’t sure what to get for his dad. So I was thinking getting them a $50 gift card to Olive Garden might be a good idea. That way they can have a nice night out and a good dinner together since they don’t get to go out much and need a night out.
I was thinking Olive Garden because its a nice enough restaurant without breaking the bank and I think $50 should cover Dinner, some drinks and desert (I looked at the menu and figure up about $45 so $50 to be on the safe side).
So would a gift card to Olive Garden be a good gift? I know gift cards can be impersonal sometimes but if its so they can have a date night I think it would be personal enough and they do like Italian food. His mom is a vegetarian and they have some nice veggie options so she’ll have good variety. Any thoughts?

And this Christmas is the first Christmas I’m actually gonna have a real amount of money to buy my mom something nice. She has 3 kids, she’s EXTREMELY hard working, she’s so stressed out and she’s really depressed. She’s divorced, she works and lives pretty much for her three kids (me included). She’s also very low income, so she never has any extra money to buy herself anything nice. Since I’m a teenager, we do get into fights a lot, and I know she has her doubts that I don’t care about her.. if only she knew. I want her to know that I care about her. I want to show her.

I’m buying her an ipod shuffle. $50. And I’m gonna fill it up with all her favorite songs. I know she’d love that, she loves music and she’s always listening to the radio and singing, but she can never afford an ipod.

But $50? One little present? For everything she’s ever done for me?! Yeah right! I want to get her something else too, something BIG!

I *was* going to get her two tickets to see a broadway play, me using the other ticket of course! To see a musical. But the tickets are $200 each and I’m not sure which one she would like to see But I know she’d absolutely love that. But to see a broadway play, after I’d like to take her out to eat.. and than her whole present with the ipod is gonna be over $500 and I honestly just don’t have that kind of money. I work at Kentucky Fried Chicken lol! It’s my first day on Monday.

I need better suggestions. Hopefully something me and her could do together.

I need ideas for what to get my boyfriend’s parents, we have been together for 2 years. Last year i got them a Christmas cake which i put on a hand painted cake stand that my mother painted for them. (I am 19 years old, just so you all know, in case age makes a difference). Anyway, last years gift was cute but this year i have no clue what to get them. They take me on vacation with them and stuff so i wanna get them something nice. Need christmas gift ideas for my spoiled step daughter?

Let me start off by saying that she isn’t a spoiled BRAT, she’s a nice girl but has everything! She is not quite 11 years old but she already has an ipod, camera, wii, Tv/dvd in her bedroom full of toys, and any movie, game or craft she’s ever wanted. We usually ask her what she wants for xmas, but when we buy that, she ends up getting 2 of everything, as her mother’s side buys it too! Her Mother’s side of the family has taught her theat it isn’t JUST what you get, but HOW MUCH you get too, they are all about the quantity of presents.
We don’t live that way and teach our children, and try to instill in her that it is more about spending time making memories with family and being greatful for what you have, but she usually gets very dissappointed when she spends Cristmas with us, as she will only have a few (7-10 or so) gifts. We try to get her things that reflect her passions, like the guitar she wanted one year, and she’s an awesome little painter, so we got her a Painting easel, fully stocked with brushes, canvas and paint etc, but once she gets them home, her mother “puts them away” and she forgets all about them.

I really dont know what to buy this year, and I really try hard not to over do it, but when you get everything you ask for, what is left? She lives too far away for us to get her things we’d need to take her to, like snowboard lessons, horseback riding etc, and her hair is to her knees, so fun hair stuff is out, as is jewelry (it gets caught in said hair) and bath stuff.

I am a single mom and I do everything for my two teenage kids (17 and 13 yrs old). I work two jobs and I make sure they have a roof over their heads, food everynight, and clothes on their back. My daugher who is 17 has a problem doing any little thing I ask of her (take the meat out of the freezer, bring me a glass of water) and my son can be disrespectful to adults when I’m not around, sometimes does his homework, sometimes does his chores. However my daughter let me know that she wants an ipod, ps3, and some jewelry for christmas. My son tells me he wants a xbox 360, games, and some clothes. last year they didnt even buy me anything or even make anything for christmas. I am making baskets for everyone for Christmas this year. My younger sister just turned 12 and is now wearing make up and dressing up. So I have made her a big basket of makeup, nail polish, and hair accessories. For my mother, and mom-in-law, I am making baskets with candles, the reed diffusing scents, picture frames, and a little perfume. But now I am having a hard time with my dad and older sister. My sister spoils herself, she always buys what she wants, and has about everything. She is engaged now, so I thought of doing something for the both of them…. I don’t know. Any ideas? Birthday gift then a Christmas gift?

Me and my girl have this discussion every year. She was born on December 9 so guess what. 16 days later it’s Christmas. In her family they feel that you should go all out every year for someone’s birthday. Nothing wrong with that when you are a kid living at home. But when you get older and start having kids you shouldn’t expect everyone to go all out for your 30th, 35th or her upcoming 38th birthday. Here’s another breakdown. When she gets paid she’s usually got like $1200+ in the bank. I usually have about $600. Yet in still she’s expecting two gifts this year. She wants an iPod touch for Christmas. I told her this morning that I’ve priced them and those things are running around $250+ and that would just about wipe me out. Plus she wants me to take her to dinner for her birthday. I tried to compromise with her by saying I would get her the iPod but it would have to be a Christmas gift only. Next thing you know is that she’s standing there crying because she thought I was saying I didn’t care about her birthday like her parents did when they were kids. I’m not saying it’s wrong of her to expect two gifts, a birthday then a Christmas gift but given my financial status compared to hers is it fair to me that she’s asking for such an expensive gift for X-mas then a b-day gift next week? The only thing I want is a portable GPS system for my car. We tend to take a lot of road trips and she’s not the best person to read a Mapquest or a Yahoo direction print out. And the ones I’ve looked at are running about $150. Plus, with today’s economy that’s a little much for someone to expect a person to buy them when they only bring home about $500 every 2 weeks.

Am I wrong to think that way?

What should I get her for Christmas?

I don’t want to spend over $100 on my younger cousin this year. Last year I didn’t really keep track and definately spent too much, and I only have $200 to go between the last 3 gifts I need to buy, although I would like to save about $75-$50 if by any way possible for myself.

My little cousin is going to be fourteen this spring, and definately the icing on my cake. We’ve gotten so close over the past year and she trusts me more than her own parents and siblings sometimes. Plus she’s always excited to see what I thought of for her christmas gifts.

Every year I give my dad a gag gift and a regular gift.
